Welcome to The Tearoom
This is a quiet corner for readers who like their books slowly steeped.
If you’ve just arrived, I’m glad you found your way here. The Tearoom is a gathering place for essays, reading notes, literary wanderings, and the kind of stories that ask to be lingered over rather than consumed quickly. It is built on the belief that reading is not a race, but a form of attention — one that can shape the way we see the world, and the way we keep it.
This “Start Here” page is a map of sorts. A way to enter through the front door instead of wandering in through the side garden. Below you’ll find a curated selection of my most meaningful, most read, or most representative pieces — the ones that best reflect what The Tearoom is becoming.
Over time, The Tearoom has become less about collecting books and more about building a way of seeing them. A slower practice of attention. A small archive of wonder.
Stay as long as you like. Return whenever you need.
The kettle is always on.
The Tearoom Circle
If you’ve explored The Tearoom and feel at home here, consider joining The Tearoom Circle.
The Circle is where readers gather a little closer — a space for exclusive articles, shared discoveries, and conversations about the books and ideas that stay with us.
Members are invited to contribute to the Tearoom Commonplace Book, a growing collection of favorite passages, overlooked authors, beautiful illustrations, historical curiosities, and books worth remembering.
As the Circle grows, it will also become home to the future Tearoom Book Club — a place to read, discuss, and explore stories together.

ohh i feel like this is such a comfort place for readers as you intended it to be
Good evening, Mariella! I write historical cozy culinary mysteries (I couldn't pick just one!) set in 1929 New Mexico. The first in the series, Fried Chicken Castaneda, won the New Mexico Book Award for Cozy Mystery. The second, French Toast a la Santa Fe, will be released on October 13. I'd love to talk to your subscribers about the series, its inspiration, and where it's going from here.
